The Last Carinthia Trail Map
I was part of a small group of instructors the owners asked to show up at 7 AM to ski a foot-plus of fresh powder that had fallen overnight. It was perfectly sunny, and we skied first tracks for an hour and a half before the mountain even opened. What we didn't know was that Dianna was taking photos for the new trail map. The following season, Darren Yovan and I were the two skiers featured in the image below.
Lost Ski Areas of Southern Vermont
Carinthia, featured in Jeremy K. Davis's Lost Ski Areas of Southern Vermont, was owned and run for many years by a couple who eventually sold it to Mount Snow. I taught skiing there and was one of the instructors featured on the cover of Carinthia's final trail map.
